ADVICE ON TRAINING FOR A SUB-3 MARATHON

Am just coming to terms with the real world after running my first full marathon.  Was generally surfing and I land on this page that has advice on how to do a sub-3 marathon:

https://bridgerridgerun.wordpress.com/2015/03/30/how-to-run-a-3-hour-marathon-a-just-enough-training-approach/

Very well written and offers an unambiguous programme on how to get there.

The starting conditions, though, make one think twice:

  • You should be able to run a 5K within 19 minutes… Umm… nowhere in sight !
  • You must have a base of consistent endurance training (running) of at least 3 to 4 hours a week for at least the past year… this sounds better… my records reveal 1527 km in 2017, which is an average of about 30 km per week, just falling a bit short of 3 hours a week, at my easy pace.   Am nearly there, with this one.

Whether realistic for me or not, it is certainly interesting to read about the lofty goals that people set and achieve.   No kidding!
